This season’s opening symphony concert, My Homeland, invites audiences to explore themes of place and belonging through a compelling musical program. The concert will take place on Sunday, October 19 at Meagher Theatre, Neumann University, with pianist Young‑Ah Tak as the featured artist.

The afternoon opens with Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan and Ludmila, a work full of virtuosic brilliance and vibrant energy. Next, audiences will be treated to Grieg’s passionate and lyrical Piano Concerto, performed by Young‑Ah Tak, a distinguished Steinway Artist known worldwide for her solo, recital, and chamber music appearances. The concert concludes with Vaughan Williams’ A London Symphony, a richly atmospheric homage to the city he called home — evoking both grandeur and intimate reflection.

Find out more about the pieces featured at this concert by attending Meet the Music, a free, pre-concert lecture presented by Neumann University Music Professor, Dr. Richard Sayers, at 2:00 PM.

My Homeland Symphony Concert will be presented on October 19 at 3:00 PM in Neumann University's Meagher Theatre. Tickets for the concert may be purchased at dcsmusic.org/tickets
