YOUTH CONCERTO COMPETITION
The Delaware County Symphony (DCS) offers young musicians (in grades 9-12) of outstanding talent the opportunity to audition for its annual youth concerto competition. The winner of the competition is awarded prize money and performs a work for solo instrument and orchestra during the May Symphony Series concert. A Chamber Series winner is also chosen to perform at the final chamber series concert in April. This year, we are pleased to announce Julie Chen, who will be performing Samuel Barber's Cello Concerto in A minor, Op. 22 with us at our final Symphony concert on May, 3rd, 2026. The 2024- 2025 season Symphony Series winner, Kwanyun Loo, performed Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op.33 on May 4th, 2025. The Chamber Series winner was a clarinet duet performed by Brahin Ahmaddiya and Kenny Mellon. Kenny performed the Poulenc Clarinet Sonata as a solo at the chamber concert on April 6th, 2025.
